Scout spreads peace and joy

On Feb. 7, I completed my Eagle Scout project, which was the construction of a handicapped-accessible picnic table and two raised flower boxes for the residents of the Autumn Care nursing home. I hope these items will bring joy and peace to the residents and their families.

I publicly express my gratitude towards the businesses and citizens who generously and unselfishly donated their time and funds to the completion of my Eagle Project. I publicly thank MWP Supply, Greystone TV and Appliance, Giovanna’s restaurant, Madison Drug Company, along with Mrs. Brenda Richards, Crucial Computers, Dr. Smith Family Dentistry and The Butters Team of Remax Crossroads. I also express my deep thanks to all of the hard-working members of Troop 116, friends, and of course my family. Without your help, my Eagle Project would not have been completed.

I hope that this spring, the residents of Autumn Care will find happiness in the simplicity of gardening and fresh air. As for me, I have found that true joy comes not from material things, but from service towards others. Once again, I thank all those involved with my Eagle Project and may God bless you in all that you do.
