Teachers could use money spent on sheriff’s lawyer

It seems that the Sheriff Erik Weaver situation has been somewhat cleared up and I see that there are several people writing in to say he is owed an appology. I have never said that I thought he was guilty, but I will say that I am not so sure either way.

All I have seen is that he took it to enough people that he finally got it overturned.  This is what I saw in the newspapers’ coverage of it since the whole thing started — he was told by the citizens of Madison County and by the officials of Madison County that it was a personal matter that he should take care of himself.

He heard that answer and took it to someone that would overturn that.  He got Madison County to pay for his $250 an hour lawyer fees while our teachers didn’t get raises. He took it to court again until he heard the answer of not guilty.

I have to ask, because someone has to, now that he has gone through all of this to “clear his good name,” does the $250 an hour that was paid to his lawyer get reimbursed to the county?

Now, I am not saying that he was guilty, but I am saying that just because his name got “cleared,” in my opinion that does not change the muddied water surrounding how he got it done.
