Madison County’s boys basketball team continued its undefeated streak by defeating Clarke County last week by a close 54-49 margin. The Mountaineers played well overall, but did commit some errors, which the Eagles swooped in to take and use to their advantage, pulling in as close as 3 points in the fourth quarter.
But even the often-impressive efforts of Clarke’s Shiley brothers were not enough to overcome the seemingly unstoppable Mountaineers.
Logan Terrell led Madison as he continues on his hot streak with 25 points. Sam Utz also added double-digits to the board with 12 points.
With the win, Madison went to 21-0 on the season and 7-0 in the Bull Run District. Madison had one regular season game remaining and played last night against Strasburg.
Madison will have the top seed in the BRD tournament and will get a bye the first round. The only game in the quarter-final round is Strasburg vs. Manassas Park, which is set for Friday.
The semi-final games are set for Wednesday, Feb. 18. Both semi-final games will be in Madison. They include George Mason vs. Clarke County at 6:30 p.m. and Madison vs. the winner of the Strasburg-Manassas Park match-up.
The finals are set for 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20 and will be at the highest seed.
Admission will be $5 and no passes will be accepted to the game.
Also, look for Madison to host a regional tournament game 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25.
