Madison County’s Mountaineers (5-0, 0-0) disarmed Stonewall Jackson’s Generals 26-13 in football action in Quicksburg Friday, though faced some tough skirmishes in the early going.

A running back for Stonewall Jackson (3-2, 0-0), Pete Pendleton, led the Generals’ charge, scoring first in the match-up with a one-yard run near the end of the first quarter. The Shenandoah District foe scored again in the second quarter with a 27-yard touchdown pass from John-Michael Pirtle to Ethan Hirsh.

But then, Stonewall’s scoring cannons fell silent for good when Madison launched its powerful twin-warhead missile running back attack of Devon Boone and Logan Terrell. Boone capped off a Madison scoring drive with a 14-yard run later in the second quarter. Next, quarterback Will Taylor hit Terrell for a 65-yard pass.

Then in the third quarter, it was Boone rocketing into the end zone again with a one-yard run.

The Mountaineers, the lone undefeated Bull Run District team, padded their lead with 10 minutes left in the game when Taylor hit Ryan Banks on a 40-yard scoring pass.
