Bobby Richards, left, and Andrew Merryman
Madison County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two men Aug. 8 in connection with a recent breaking and entering at Madison County High School and theft of firearms and computer equipment, according to two sheriff’s investigators.
Deputies charged Achsah residents Andrew Merryman, 18, and Bobby W. Richards, 19, with breaking and entering, grand larceny, receiving or buying a stolen firearm, possession of stolen property with the intent to sell and possession of burglary tools.
As a result of citizen tips, and thefts reported Aug. 3, sheriff’s deputies conducted a search of a residence on Mount Zion Church Road in Madison Aug. 8 where they believe Merryman and Richards both live.
Investigator Greg Garrett said deputies found “a substantial number of items,” including firearms and a large amount of computer equipment that they confirmed stolen from the Madison County public school system, the town of Orange and Orange County.
Because the investigation is ongoing – deputies recovered more stolen property Monday – the Sheriff’s Office did not reveal the complete list of stolen items.
Further charges are believed to be pending. Anyone with additional information is asked to call Investigator Leilani Stanley at (540) 948-5161.
