Make Madison shopping destination

At a time when we are all attempting to save pennies and dollars, our family has learned that Madison County merchants have very competitive pricing for services and goods. The high cost of gas and a little research could help our local Madison businesses and save money for your family.

I learned -- after doing some research -- that prescription drugs from a Madison pharmacy are in some cases cheaper or at least the same pricing as the big box stores. Our family transferred all of our drugs for refilling and each time we visit the pharmacy we’re met by a very professional and friendly staff.

I was quite surprised when I learned that our local family owned business was actually very competitive. We also enjoy the customer service, which is difficult to find at the big box stores these days.

A recent tire replacement revealed the same at a Madison tire store and we were very pleased with the excellent service and installation of our tires. The tires were ordered, received and installed just as the quote provided.

Again, the big vendors in Fredericksburg could not compete with the price.

Our local doctor’s office recently responded to a weekend medical need and returned our call within five minutes of calling their after-hours service.

Our local florist has beautiful arrangements and on my birthday, while I was away from home, he actually took the arrangement into our home. It was a special treat to arrive home with such beauty on my kitchen counter. You won’t find this level of service at any big box store.

We enjoy the farmers market for fresh vegetables as well as the local delis, restaurants, our computer specialist and other Madison stores. Our goal is to support our local merchants.

To retain our small rural community, we all need to take a closer look at services we have in our backyard. You will receive better service and enable our small family businesses to remain within our community, so it’s worth the time to take a closer look and stay close to home.
