Editor:
In all likelihood the next president will nominate two or more replacement justices to the Supreme Court. We already have a liberal majority in Congress. If we elect a liberal president who appoints liberal justices to the Supreme Court, we will have more liberal laws than we can certainly face as a Christian nation.
One of the most liberal laws, which will be passed and enforced, is the hate crimes bill. One provision of this bill will forbid evangelists, ministers and teachers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ from preaching and teaching biblical values, laws and principles. Some will say this will not happen in America, but except for the president’s veto this bill would have already passed.
I am blessed to work with an evangelist, who not only preaches in America, but also proclaims the Gospel in other counties. When papers are checked at the Canadian border, he is warned that he absolutely cannot preach on certain topics. He is forbidden to preach biblically that marriage is between one man and one woman. If he breaks their laws, he is subject to fines and imprisonment. The Canadian government has the hate crimes law that our liberals are trying to pass here in our Congress.
We must remember it was judges, not the people, who ruled against the Pledge of Allegiance, the Ten Commandments and prayer in the school. We cannot afford to further unleash an unbridled leftist, secular, anti-Christian agenda on America, our children, our grandchildren and future generations. It is time that we stand up for the truth and righteousness. We need to reinstate our moral values.
Thomas Sowell had an excellent article in Oct. 11 edition of the Daily Progress. He explained how vitally important it is for the next president to have a sound character, high standards, strong moral values and strong leadership.
Unfortunately, in the past 50 years too many of us as Christians have remained silent. No longer can we afford to do this. All of us, regardless of any political association, must vote for Christian principles. We have to vote Christian principles and values at the local, state and national levels. The future of our nation is at stake.
