Wetsel band deserves applause

On May 16, the Wetsel Middle School Band traveled to Kings Dominion to participate in Music in the Parks. This is a competition for concert bands. They competed with bands from Pennsylvania, Maryland and North Carolina. Again this year, they walked away with the first place trophy and an excellent rating!
To attend a competition, takes months of practice and hard work from these sixth and seventh grade band students. It also takes a lot of planning and organization from the band boosters. We would like to thank this years sponsors, Bruster’s Ice Cream, T&N Trucking, Newman’s Cleaning, Byram’s Automotive Works Inc., Jenkins Flooring Service, Plow and Hearth – Madison Brands, Madison Tastee Freeze, LS Industries Inc. and the Fowler family. Donations from the above mentioned sponsors allowed us to purchase “awesome” T-shirts the students wore after their competition.

We also need to thank all of our chaperones that helped make our trip go smoothly including, Melissa Martin, Opal Jenkins, Amanda Paul, Lisa Pingley, Darryl Shifflett, Melody Omer, Linda Fowler and Carl Tendziegloski.

Last, but certainly not least, we would like to thank Mr. Harner for continuing to give the band students of WMS the opportunity to participate in an excellent band program. We appreciate all of your hard work and dedication to our band.
