Democratic nominee Creigh Deeds thanks the crowd at the Omni Hotel in Charlottesville Tuesday night after winning the primary. He was the overwhelming top vote getter in Madison County.
Just slightly more than five percent of Madison County’s registered voters participated in Tuesday’s Democratic Party Primary Election and they cast an overwhelming majority of votes for Creigh Deeds for governor. Among Madison County voters, Deeds surpassed the next highest vote-getter — Terry McAuliffe – by a more than four-to-one margin, with Deeds receiving 330 Madison County votes compared to McAuliffe’s 78.
A third gubernatorial candidate, Brian Moran, received 49 Madison County votes.
Deeds, who also won statewide, will now face Republican Bob McDonnell in the Nov. 3 general election.
Complete Madison County precinct-by-precinct election results appear in the June 11 print edition of The Madison County Eagle.
