Editor:
If the information I received is correct, the bonuses given to the school personnel was not county money. This was a government grant given to the school and was to be used in a certain way or the school would not have received it.
Teachers and bus drivers take care of our children all day and some of them have not had a raise or bonus in years. I think the superintendant did the right thing and he justified what’s been done to the school personnel in the past years.
I also think that the substitute bus drivers and the car drivers should have been entitled to this bonus also! Even though they’re not considered full-time, they are still a part of the school system and are much needed. This should be reevaluated.
We have lost good teachers and bus drivers every year because they go to counties paying higher wages. This is a great loss to the safety and education of our children -- we should be so ashamed.
We go to the polls and we elect our school board and our board of supervisors to make decisions for the county, and then they seem to get bashed for everything they try to do. I sure wouldn’t want their job. They can’t please anybody.
I hear a lot of people telling them how they should do their job, but very few stepping up and wanting their job. I am a taxpayer in this county and I would never complain about anything done for the education and safety of our children.
Congratulations to all the school personnel and keep up the good work for our children and grandchildren.
Many thanks to the bus drivers that take my grandchildren to and from school safely and to the teachers that give their all to give them a great education.
